Museum mourns loss of benefactor Arthur Popham

The Kansas City Museum and Friends of Kansas City Museum are saddened by the loss of Mr. Arthur C. Popham, Jr. in September 2009.

Mr. Popham was a long-time supporter of the Museum and the major benefactor of the Natural History Halls at Kansas City Museum, for whom they were named. Mr. Popham had been ill for some time, and in fact was not able to attend our de-commissioning ceremony for the Halls. We were however joined by his wife, Phoebe, and his daughter Carol.

The foresight, dedication and generosity of Mr. Popham and other citizens like him allowed the Museum to make significant educational achievements and to serve the community with vigor. The Museum salutes Mr. Popham and his family for their commitment to the cultural life of our City, and carries his enthusiastic spirit forward in our ongoing work.
