Loula Long Combs: Fashion Paper Doll Collection
The Museum's new book, "Loula Long Combs: Fashion Paper Doll Collection" is being introduced at our Free First Sunday event Aug. 3
One hundred years after Loula Long Combs commissioned a portrait doll of herself, the Kansas City Museum is introducing a paper doll book about Loula which was developed by the woman who purchased the original doll, then donated it to the Museum.

In August 2008, the Museum introduced Loula Long Combs: Fashion Paper Doll Collection The original paper doll book, illustrated by Johanna Gast Anderton, features a dozen illustrations of actual historic clothing and period photographs in the Museum collections.

The book also includes portraits of some of Loula’s pets, like Jocko the monkey and Mary the piglet, and a charming narrative called, “How to Play with Paper Dolls.”

The book is available for purchase at the Museum Visitor Center Gift Shop or online. Buy it now.
