So says the song. And it’s especially true with the Friends of Kansas City Museum. Our members are a dynamic group of individuals, families and professionals who appreciate the educational and cultural value of our city's rich history and the legacy of the Robert A. Long family, whose estate became the Kansas City Museum.
Some of our member families are multi-generational, and some of our members are brand new to Kansas City. There’s plenty of interesting fare for all of them!
Friends members have an appreciation for history that’s put to good use. The Friends support the preservation of the historic artifacts and other collections of the Kansas City Museum, such as its significant collections of clothing, furniture and Native American artifacts.
What we do
![]() |
| Our Friends make friends quickly, because they have so many things in common. |
We're not a stuffy group – in fact, we're intent on bringing the Museum to all members of our community and having fun together. That's why we support all kinds of activities and initiatives for young and old.
This year, we have a number of important projects on tap. Among these, we are supporting the renovation of Corinthian Hall and the Carriage House on the former estate of R.A. Long.
We also like to share the Museum’s story with events at the Museum, at Union Station Kansas City, and on tours throughout historic places in our community. The Friends get together in all sorts of ways – at family events, adult events and programs, and in volunteer committee and event planning roles to facilitate the Museum’s events and initiatives.
